From Pirate Island to Conservation Sanctuary

In the 300 years since its discovery, this archipelago of 115 paradise islands has seen a host of settlers.

In the 17th century, pirates were among the first inhabitants, using islands like Fregate as a base for attacks against the British East India Company.

Declared a French colony in the 18th century, the Seychelles changed hands several times between the French and British before gaining independence in 1976. Throughout its history, the Seychelles has become home to people from all continents and is today famous for their blend of cultural backgrounds and for the warm welcome extended to guests from around the world.

Fregate Island is a unique destination where one can experience the best the Seychelles has to offer. The name recalls legends of long lost treasure chests, but today we present a conservation hideaway that is unique on this planet.

Fregate House - Restaurant & Pirates Bar

Luxury dining at Fregate House

Fregate House is home to our restaurant which is characterized by a plantation style and casual elegance.
It’s a fine à la carte restaurant where you can dine while admiring the beautiful scenery of the clear blue ocean and the islands of Praslin and La Digue on the horizon.

Just some steps below Fregate House you find this little hutch, the Pirates Bar. It is the perfect venue for your sunset cocktail while admiring the beautiful scenery of the clear blue ocean and the islands of Praslin and La Digue on the horizon.

The wine cellar is the most perfect location for an intimate dinner, paired with your favourite vintage wine.

Plantation House & Museum

For events with a colonial charm

Plantation House, back in the day, was the home of the former plantation owner before the island became the unique paradise it is today, so it is just the perfect venue for our weekly ‘Creole Night’. veryone comes together to enjoy the local cuisine while listening to traditional Creole music.

As you enter the veranda of the former plantation owner's residence, the charm of the colonial architecture transports you back in time. It is a venue full of character for special events. A museum has interesting displays of marine flora and fauna and records the island’s history which began as a pirate’s hideaway in the 17th Century.

The Rock Spa & Gym

The power of nature

A natural haven of serenity, nestled in a cliff-top plateau commanding panoramic views of the sea, the Rock Spa celebrates the island’s unique surroundings and embraces the traditional elements of earth, air, fire and water.
The Rock Spa is a truly natural Seychellois spa experience which embraces the ecology of its unique surroundings. Using only pure, natural products prepared from ingredients grown on the island and free from any chemical or artificial additives, the Rock Spa’s treatments and therapies incorporate countless medical plants and natural local products. The team of qualified therapists blend indigenous know-how with principles of herbalism and aromatherapy to create unique scrubs, pastes and oils which form the basis of traditional treatments for relaxation, revitalization, detoxification or specific ailments. The Rock Spa is a place for reflection, inspiration and sublime indulgence.

There is no need to let your fitness regime take a vacation while at Fregate Island. With tropical gardens as your focal point, step up your routine in our modern gym, equipped with the latest state-of-the-art equipment. Personal trainers for private sessions will be available upon request.

Yacht Club & Sheltered Harbor

Sail and sports boats

We have a picturesque private harbour, four sports boats, a dive club and a flotilla of hobie cats.

The Yacht Club is quiet and relaxed with views over one of the calmest bays, just the perfect location to choose for private dining or afternoon cocktails with a round of pool.

Seven Beaches

Discover the world’s most beautiful beach

The seven natural beaches, all with a brilliant sweep of powdery white sand, are located all around the island. There is even one beach that can be entirely privatized by flipping the ‘Beach Occupied’ sign and no other island guest will disturb you while sunbathing. Whenever you arrive at one of the beaches, there is always a cooler box with iced drinks, towels spread on loungers, a fresh water shower and you can call your private assistant for anything more you wish. This is genuinely wild beauty with delicate light luxury.

Each beach has its own special character, from Anse Victorin that has excellent snorkeling just 15 meters off shore, Marina Beach is protected by a coral reef and always calm. To reach Anse Park you walk through a jungle trail past giant tortoises heading to their mud bath.

Anse Bambous is just below Fregate House and has boogie boards and a beach bar for light lunch and crushed iced drinks. Grand Anse is our wildest and loveliest, you can hear the roar of the waves before you emerge from the jungle trail, order a cocktail and watch the magnificent sunsets.

Anse Victorin has been voted the most beautiful beach in the world on numerous occasions, but it is impossible to capture this panoramic place in words.
