The Waste to Wealth Hub Is Coming to Life

Our Waste to Wealth Hub is steadily taking shape, and earlier this year marked an exciting step forward as we began using our new composter machine from Solwearth.

The system turns food waste into a dry, soil-like compost through a simple and user-friendly process. By dehydrating the waste, it reduces the volume significantly while creating a useful end product that can go straight back into the island’s gardens.

For our first cycle, we processed 236 kg of food waste collected over a few days and produced 32 kg of compost. A great result and a promising start.

Alongside this, we introduced a shredder, which helps process larger waste such as fish bones and makes the overall operation more efficient.

This is just the beginning of the journey. For now, the compost will be used in our gardens and landscaping, with more developments to follow as the hub continues to grow.
